full moon party

This weekend we went to a full moon party out in the
middle of the desert. One of the coolest (yet hottest)
places I've ever been...

So bright that you didn't even need a flashlight...

The monkey crew. Only eight of us ended up making the trip,
and K was the only girl. Hanging tough with the boys.

During the day it was so damn hot that we played every game
possible under the tarps...here's a photo of the shooting game...
Here's K with full support from the crew!!!

After game time we would go for quick sandal hikes to a near
by cave or crack or anywhere close by with shade. BUT at night
is when the real fun kicked in. Every night after dinner we went
for night hikes. The first night we hiked to the top of one of the
canyons...probably 6 miles round trip. no light was necessary until
we heard the sounds of crickets....wait...wait...those aren't crickets!
It's rattle snake season boys and girls!!!

Our camp was in the middle of a canyon. No one else around one
night one.

Day two was a completely different story. More hikers and campers
moved into the area during the day. AND went for day long hikes.
In the 100 + temps out side, are you crazy??? Nope, just dumb.
Planes started flying over head, cops stormed the place and a fire truck
joined in on the fun. An hour later, not more than 40 yards from our camp,
a helicopter landed. Dehydrated and Lost...not a good combo for the desert.

the rescue mission was a success!

Oh-yeah. On night 2, part of an Indian tribe showed up, put
a rock next to our fire pit and setup camp where the heli landed.
That night they all faced east, one dude blew an ancient horn of
sorts, and then they all kept chanting the same things over and
over. Enter the spirit world

I told you what season it was. This was a little guy we found shortly
after arrival. someone took a photo of a fatty in strike position...as soon
as i get a copy, I'll definitely post it.
