the good life

I mentioned the great lunch K & I had for my birthday, but I didn't
get a chance to mention the great breakfast we had...(partly
because I'm using a new, old P.O.S., computer and partly because
my big sis already blogged about it). Anywho, see for your self.

The day before (the 25th) K and I were talking about who makes
better cinnamon rolls; my mom or KimMomLee (as my cell phone says).
How can you compare? Is it in the icing, the sugar, the doe or as
K says the "cinnamon". I don't know it's a close call. You can't believe
how similar these two recipes are.

I just realized I have no idea how to spell dow or doe. So any spelling
means "batter that makes bread"...

We had a great breakfast, a great lunch, played some car racing
games (which Kimberly let me win...I know because I've never
beaten her in a racing game before) at Dave & Busters, cooled
off at Barton Springs and ended with happy hour at Chewy's TexMex.

Now it's back to not being my birthday...good thing mom had to work
the actual day though, because now we get to celebrate all over again
with chicken wangs. We'll see if I can't get any good photos...

the great outdoors

so this weekend we K & I went camping at Pace Bend (for the
non-Austin Texans out there -> it's on Lake Travis). We packed
all our camping toys (bikes & kayaks) and gear for a weekend
outside. When we moved out of the coastal bend, K packed all
our gear into one gigantic box. Opening this box was like opening
a giant Christmas present filled with all sorts of good camping surprises.

Our camp site was on the top of a small cliff (40 ft or so).
We had a great view and a nice quiet place to chill.

Although the only neighbor couldn't keep his mouth shut,
he was at least quiet.

So we "bombed" the kayaks off the side of the cliff and locked
them to a tree with a pretty fun rope swing. We wrapped my
tow rope around the tree to help us get in and out of the water.
After one lunch we came back to find my tow rope was the new
and improved rope swing! We had to test it out a few times
before climbing up the tree to retrieve my precious rope.

Me tying up the kayaks after a lake travis excursion...

This big scaly dude came down from one of the trees for an
evening snack.

Well if you "bomb" your kayaks off a cliff, you have to re-bomb
em' back up...I had a great idea of tying both kayaks together
instead of pulling them up individually. Seats were getting stuck
on rocks and we almost gave up a few times. But with the jet ski
guy circling and two boats stopping to point, how could we give up?

Victory!

Mcdiver

It's been 6 months since I completed my diving classes
and it took much hassling of the oak hill dive shop,
but now I'm an officially certified open water diver.

I did my dives at Aquarena Springs...Super Clear and Super Cold.
On Day two I brought an extra layer: two wetsuits = No shivering for me.

even with two wetsuits on I was still reluctant to get in that icy water.
last one in.

first one out

Important dates:
- Kimberly and I are going to New Orleans October 26 the year
of our Lord 2007.

equipment to dive around the springs again).

week in review

This week the screen on my laptop decided it didn't like it's casing
too much so it broke the mold. Now its a laptop desktop. bummer.
What good is a laptop if the screen won't close? So after talking
to six different managers in India, I still don't know what's going on.
But it is under warranty and HP said they will fix it, I just have to
mail it to them for at least 2 weeks. WTF. Dos XX. F.
Next time you purchase a laptop you better check out the
hinges or you to could be saying WTF. F.
Now work has to mail me my old tower so I can mail this
POS off. How do you mail a laptop if the screen won't close???

Also showing this week...Kimberly did a ride out with Mom.

Kimberlys rumination...

A somewhat calm Wednesday night on the ambulance was
a great learning experience! Cheryl and her EMS partner,
Mark, showed me around the fire station and then put me in
the back of the shinny, new, yellow ambulance to respond to
a call. With headphones on, (so I could hear the dialogue up
front and the info on where we were headed) I watched out
the back window as we headed quickly down the streets of
Austin. Our first call was a drunk homeless man (pretty
common in Austin), followed by a couple small car wrecks
and a crazy man. And no blood. Just a ton of paperwork! I
headed home happy, thinking about how lucky we all are to
have such caring, skilled people just a phone call away.

See we ended on a happy note!
