less than a week

It's been awhile since I've updated the blog, or at least that's
what Kimberly keeps telling me. So all work aside, I'll make up
for the past few days...

Friday we watched Allie's softball game. Wow little kid games are,
um, amusing. Amusing is probably a good word. Unfortunately! the game
got rained out half way through. We went home and played some hold'em
with Dale, Jeff and Jules. We must have played for 6 hours straight,
because we found ourselves passing out at the table. The next day, Dale
kept bugging me about posting a pick from the game...so here it is Dale,
your big second place "I'm ready for bed" smile.

We spent all day Saturday hiking at the Garden of the Gods
and at Helen water fall. All day hiking with two tired kids...

Sunday we had tickets to see Wide Spread Picnic (or whatever
they're called) at Red Rocks...WSP is always an entertaining show!

The hippie girls...

We gave this old bum a ride to the show...a friend of a friend of a friend
of a friend. I think he fell down no less than 6 times before we left the
parking lot to go see the show....needless to say he got a ride home from
your local EMS!

is it time yet?

Yep.

This weekend we're planing on hanging with Jules and Jeff
in da Springs yo. JJ have this really great beer at their
house; it's even a light beer...

Saturday night we saw "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum", and as the title suggests it was pretty damn funny. I've seen so many plays lately you'd think my big sis was back; way back in high school...back in Mr. Butterworth's drama class. HA! Man Suz that was a long time ago...so long that you used to take me to concerts when I was too young to be there; now Suz turned down a ticket to a punk rock show because she's "Ancient". Aren't the pyramids ancient? I hope this old age is hampering your ability to heal quickly!!!

everyone loves pictures

Because most everyone loves pictures (after all...seeing is believing), I decided
not to post new blogs unless I have pictures to post too. And since we forgot to
take the cam with us everywhere we've gone the past week, I haven't updated
this damn blog.

Last night we watched Indian Jones and the adventure of something...The
movie starts out in a canyon showing all kinds of rock formations...the same
formations we saw at arches NP (well the named formations anyways).

Then they go into a cave in these rocks...this is where they find
some sort of golden cross....

and last but not least: Belated Acknowledgments (in order of occurance):
Happy birthday to Earnie
Happy birthday to Cain
Happy farther's day to all the Pops' out there
Happy birthday to Bev
busy month......
I hope your heeling better Suz

So we've started planning our trip back to Tejas, but big
sis' post about a steamy 95 afternoon doesn't sound great.
Not that still freezing my ass off is great, but damn, why can't
we have a comfortable medium?
I think the final plans are to fly into Austin sometime Tuesday,
July 3....but who knows...

Sunday

On the Sunday drive home we drove through Bridges NP where we learned a couple cool facts...like...the difference between a natural bridge and an arch...aaaaannd.....the time period they are from or are showing or whatever the correct geological term is. I'll include the pic so you can try to read for yo self.

I don't know/remember the name of this bridge or why the text is underlined above?
I don't even know how to underline text at all (period).

the time line...where are you?

cutie...i couldn't fit this one in the last post

This is from the snow we got on Thursday!!!

or maybe from Gina's spring break camera
June snow? Well, it started Thursday night so we decided to
get the hell out of dodge. I don't know what's a worse June: sweating
your ass off or freezing your ass off??? No one ever told me it snowed
every season in Colorado....Anywho, we drove most the night and camped just
out side of Arches NP. Friday morning we got up with the sun and did a quick
drive through the park before continuing our trek to Lake Powell.

All of the rock formations have pretty simple names. Sheep rock looks like a sheep,
people rock looks like people; well you get the point. We also saw a few nameless
rock formations...

Do you remember me saying that we are directionally challenged???
Well it happened again! We did the missed a turn challenge and ended
up on the complete opposite side of the lake. "Yo Gina where ya at, we're
at the boat ramp too,'' doesn't help you much when your not at the correct
boat ramp. It took a few but Gina and her dad were nice enough to pick us
up and save us a $20 ferry ride. Thanks Gina!

Have you ever house boated? This was my first time so I gots some things
to say. If you like RVing or campers than you will like house boats. I haven't
stayed in any of the above so the whole concept is foreign to me, but here is the
breakdown. They take RV's strip them of their wheels and put them on pontoon
boats, and walla...you have a house boat. Then they setup campgrounds on the lake
and everyone camps out.....this could be cool if you take the boat off to a more secluded
place, but we were in the middle of a boat party.....

We slept on the deck both nights. This photo is the result of
falling asleep first...

We took the ski boat all over the place and saw some really
amazing canyons. The white line on the rocks is the high water mark.
The lake is about 90 feet low, but has created many cool overhangs
to park the boat under and have a bite....

~ baseball moms ~

Our mom's both have to be some of the biggest. loudest. baseball moms...
so when the Astros came to town we had to go see the rockies defend home plate.
The Stros kicked some ass the day before and I was definitely looking for a
repeat...even went out and bought this shiny new cap....

The Astros we're kicking some ass until I called mom to give her the
good news...and the game continued to go down hill from there: the
rockies started winning, the wind picked up, the temp dropped and I
was wearing rockies socks with my sandals...I thought to myself
"no wonder, hell must really be freezing over...." i couldn't find anything
about it in the news this morning but I'll keep checking...game 3 is tonight!

We're headed to Lake Powel, Utah tomorrow morning to spend the weekend
on a house boat with Gina. Driving through Arches or Moab or maybe I'm
confused (I don't plan the stops...only follow orders! Left! No Right!
Your OTHER Right! no no no, turn around we missed it! HA! )

IT

Not much to report since we've been home, but
It's good to back in the swing of things. It always
amazes me how good it can feel to be back at work
after a long vacation, but it also amazes me how quick
that feeling can fade...work again.....I need a vacation!

We are also in the midst of planning our trip back to
the lone star state. It's looking as though we will drive
back and stop at a national park on the way (june 30 -
july 3). Arriving in Austin on the 3 or 4...who knows

Although, the more time away from the
ocean the more we can't wait to get back.
It's definitely almost time to move east or west
or anywhere with GOOD waves. Damn it Suz! Why did
you have to move back before we could move in...A free
place in Cali would be key right now!

it it it it it it it it's I need some new words to fill in because
IT looks as though I start to many sentences with it

no place like home

We made it! Rolled in to the house around
1:30 a.m. Saturday night (or sunday morning)
however you want to look at it. Kimberly and I had
a wonderful day at home. Together. Alone. No Driving.
No work. In case you didn't notice we left Colorado on
May 15 and didn't come home until June 2/3.....
I can't wait until we have our OWN house!

We had a great trip east. Starting in Austin, we drove
with mom to New York. 30 hours straight. Non stop.
No traffic until hour 28...then all hell broke loose...Mom
kicked some ass in the bike ride from NY to Virginia. I don't
think there was a single day that someone didn't come up to
Kimberly and I and tell us what an "animal!" mom is.
Mom dropped us off with Jessi (Kimberly's cus) and from
there we made our way to the outer banks. we had a beautiful
beach house and spent every day laying in the sand or by the pool.
Every night we played poker and every night the rents kicked our ass
(I think it was there way of saying "thanks for chipping in on the house").

On diving day I didn't get to dive with the crew because they didn't have
an available instructor...so Cain, Lee and I had a great chill day at the
house. It was good to meat Cain (Jessi's sig other) and hang out on the
beach. Can't wait to hang with those two kids again!
Start planing Mr. I get three weeks off a year!

All states new to me this trip:
Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland,
Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York.

Wanna see some pics???

...shoulda been here yesterday; u wish u were here tomorrow...

typical surf dodging...always a day late and leaving the day
before the proverbial swell arrives...everyone always likes
to talk about the waves you won't get.

It's our last day here, and we're all bumming. Vacations
always start off slow and then bam it's time to go. The water
has been cold but everyone has had a great time rolling around
in the sand, laying by the pool and thawing out in the hot tub.
Our house is amazing! It's on the beach and we have our own
pool, hot tub and deck to the beach...the best of all worlds.
This is a pic of the back of the house....

The view from the inside....

I'll give a summary of everything as soon as we get back
to the house tomorrow afternoon....too much time on the
computer while on vacation is no good!
