get the hell out of dodge. I don't know what's a worse June: sweating
your ass off or freezing your ass off??? No one ever told me it snowed
every season in Colorado....Anywho, we drove most the night and camped just
out side of Arches NP. Friday morning we got up with the sun and did a quick
drive through the park before continuing our trek to Lake Powell.
All of the rock formations have pretty simple names. Sheep rock looks like a sheep,
people rock looks like people; well you get the point. We also saw a few nameless
rock formations...
Do you remember me saying that we are directionally challenged???
Well it happened again! We did the missed a turn challenge and ended
up on the complete opposite side of the lake. "Yo Gina where ya at, we're
at the boat ramp too,'' doesn't help you much when your not at the correct
boat ramp. It took a few but Gina and her dad were nice enough to pick us
up and save us a $20 ferry ride. Thanks Gina!
Have you ever house boated? This was my first time so I gots some things
to say. If you like RVing or campers than you will like house boats. I haven't
stayed in any of the above so the whole concept is foreign to me, but here is the
breakdown. They take RV's strip them of their wheels and put them on pontoon
boats, and walla...you have a house boat. Then they setup campgrounds on the lake
and everyone camps out.....this could be cool if you take the boat off to a more secluded
place, but we were in the middle of a boat party.....
We slept on the deck both nights. This photo is the result of
falling asleep first...
We took the ski boat all over the place and saw some really
amazing canyons. The white line on the rocks is the high water mark.
The lake is about 90 feet low, but has created many cool overhangs
to park the boat under and have a bite....
